فروری کی پہلی تاریخ سے وہ تمام آئی فونز جن میں iOS 7 آپریٹنگ سسٹم ہے یا وہ اینڈرائید فونز جن پر 2.3.7 جنجربریڈ آپریٹنگ سسٹم سے پہلے کا کوئی بھی ورژن ہے ان موبائل ڈیوائسز میں واٹس ایپ مکمل طور پر بند ہوجائے گا۔
آپ کو یہ جان کر حیرانی ہوگی کہ آج بھی لاکھوں موبائل فونز میں مذکورہ آپریٹنگ سسٹمز ہی موجود ہیں حالانکہ یہ دونوں آپریٹنگ سسٹم سالوں پرانے ہیں، iOS 7 2014 میں جبکہ جنجر بریڈ 2010 میں لانچ کیا گیا تھا۔
گوگل کے اعداد و شمار کے مطابق 0.3 فیصد اینڈرائیڈ ڈیوائسز اب بھی جنجر بریڈ آپریٹنگ سسٹم پر چل رہے ہیں جس کا مطلب یہ ہے کہ پوری دنیا میں 2 ارب 50 کروڑ اینڈرائیڈ ڈیوائسز میں سے 75 لاکھ فونز میں اب بھی جنجر بریڈ سسٹم ہے اور اگر انہیں اپ گریڈ نہیں کیا گیا تو واٹس ایپ ان موبائل فونز میں نہیں چلے گا۔
اینڈرائیڈ کی طرح گوگل نے آئی فون ڈیوائسز میں استعمال ہونے والے آپریٹنگ سسٹم کا ڈیٹا فراہم نہیں کیا لیکن اندازے کے مطابق سارے iOS ڈیوائسز میں سے 7 فیصد میں iOS 12 سے پرانا سافٹ وئیر موجود ہے۔ اس کے علاوہ 0.1 فیصد پرانے آئی فونز، جیسے 5S میں بھی iOS 7 سسٹم موجود ہے لیکن یہ اعداد و شمار مصدقہ نہیں ہیں۔
یاد رہے کہ واٹس ایپ نے ان موبائل فونز میں پچھلے سال مئی میں اپنی سروسز کے خاتمے کا عندیہ دے دیا تھا اور اس پابندی سے متعلق کمپنی کا کہنا تھا کہ ’ہم آنے والے برسوں میں اپنی تمام کوششیں ان موبائل پلیٹ فارمز کی طرف مرکوز کرنا چاہتے ہیں جسے لوگوں کی اکثریت استعمال کرتی ہے۔ یہ ڈیوائسز ہمارے ماضی کا ایک اہم حصہ ہیں لیکن ان موبائل فونز کا سسٹم وہ سہولیات فراہم نہیں کرسکتا جو ہم مستقبل میں اپنے صارفین تک پہنچانا چاہتے ہیں۔‘
کمپنی کا کہنا ہے کہ ’پابندی کا فیصلہ ہمارے لیے بھی ایک مشکل مرحلہ تھا لیکن یہ اس لیے درست ہے تاکہ ہم اپنے صارفین کو زیادہ سے زیادہ مختلف طریقوں سے اپنے دوست احباب کے ساتھ واٹس ایپ کے ذریعے جڑے رہنے کا موقع دیں
